Somewhere I read that a Thompson Elite seatpost can be had for $35 - now I'm obsessed! Does such a deal exist? I've never seen them under $80

$35, I've never seen them that cheap.. I think best I ever seen is on sale for $65 once..

I purchased my elite in perfect shape (but used) off ebay for 32 dollars. I havent seen a 35 dollar elite new anywhere.

Not new for $35.Unless an indivudal is selling one he never used.

Thompson is one of these companies that sets pricing and obligates dealers to advertise and sell at the set pricing. Illegal and an issua I have had with Thompson as it is unfair. But they simply do not care.
That is why I do not sell Thompson goods and never will and urge all out there to ban until Thompson treats dealers a little nicer.
What this leads is to grey market goods that many buy and Thompson doesn't warranty. This is the big problem.
I reccomend you buy another post and support a company that is a bit more friendly.

perhaps, yet I still believe that the Thompson elite is one of the best seat posts I have used, although it is overpriced.

There's a brand new Thompson seatpost on eBay, Buy It Now price of 55.00. That's the cheapest I have ever seen for a new one...
