Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Does anyone know of any fabricators or frame builders in the LA area? i want to get some track ends thrown onto my frame and i really dont want to learn how to braze to do it once. My bike has semi horizontal dropouts but i dont think they are long enough for easy adjustment. I am also going to be removing the braze-ons the frame currently has so it will be bare when the builder gets it.. anyways... hopefully theres one or two local...
Ask around at your LBS' , the mom and pop type shops, they should be able to point you to one. Any competent welder with a gas torch should be able to do the job. Buy some track ends somewhere first. The trick is to get the angle of the slots correct, which could easily be set up if you bring the bike with the tires and wheels attached so the guy can see what the angle needs to be to get the slots horizontal. Check the yellow pages.
But why bother? Any amount of adjustment room in horizontal dropouts should be enough. My world sport came with only half the length of slot available, a dremel and round file was all it took to open up the rest.
A road geometry bike with track ends only makes you look like a, what, posenger? jmho. To each his own.

I actually wasn't sure i would have enough room, but got the gear on today and it worked out fine with the gearing and just cut the chain to a good length.
Whats the deal with being a posenger... i mean, you're running single or fixed on what should be a road bike imitating what a track bike would be... so that puts you in the same boat.
Anyways... rocking the SS posenger style baby!
