Road Cycling - My new Bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi all,
after contemplating whether i should get a second hand 55 cm pinarello prince (Which according to the bike shop, was 1 cm too big for me) or a Cannondale CAAD5 frame, i ended up with a wilier. i picked it up yesterday and rode it today for 30km (based in Australia and use the metric system). the bike feels great. i had a Nishiki RC 700 aluminium frame equipped with shimano 600.
My new Wilier is equipped with dur ace group set and dur ace wheels.
here are a few picks.

Never mind the bike. Just the wheels and the gruppo by itself was a big sum of money.
Hi all,
Bakman. I was originally going to get a Pinarello prince but i couldn’t see the value in paying that much extra for the frame. I dont think there would be a difference at all. They both have carbon forks and rear stays. The quality wouldn’t be that different. I have only had it for 3 days and 90 km later, everything seems to be great. It accelerates great and am very happy with it so far.
I am based in australia so i have converted the prices to US dollar. I payed around $700.00 US for the dura ace wheels and $2300.00 US for the frame, groupset, and seat. How do these prices compare to prices of the wheels and bikes in the US and Italy. I would like to know if we are paying more or less for the same things over here in OZ.
Thanks
Slick1

Nice expensive bike:D
Well, i think the price is ok, (3000$ bike on road) and also 'couse you are so far and i live 15km far from the Wilier's factory in Rossano Veneto -VI- (i live in Thiene -VI-)and i can get the bikes from the outlet store! about the quality... probably becouse i know personally one of the oners, and the way how they work, i think your bike actually is at an higher level then Pinarello Prince. As i told you here in Italy Wilier is really popular rigth now, and it is considereted an alternative at the expensive Colnago or Pinarello where you pay the name! hope you all understand my writing!

soooo nice :) :) :D
Nice ride... really like those wheels. Due to my 208lbs, I thought it best to stay with 32s. Enjoy  FYI ... be prepared to take a bit of ribbing of sorts from those that have issues with carbon seat/chain stays. I really think they're actually jealious, but can't admit it.
I have carbon front and back on my Fondriest Titan Level 9, and love'em...:)
the last real "fuoriclasse" i think

Slick 1 that is sooooo AWESOME, great choice on the bike, wheels and gruppo, it's always nice to see there are other riders out there that get the really good stuff...Willier did a great paint job on that....and reading what you used to have, I'd say pretty nice upgrade eh??:D
Enjoy the bike and ride, and great choice again!!

Im not too concerned if people start flacking over the carbon. Each has their own opinion.
Bakman, Your writing is fine. Thats pretty cool how you live near Wilier and can go directly to the factory outlet. Pass on the message that i am very happy with my bike. I was only telling my friend yesterday that i can ride in comfort. With my Nishiki, i would always be trying to get into a comfortable position as i was riding. My friend didn’t like riding too close because when i would try and get comfortable, i would stop pedalling so i could move around in the saddle.
Caadman, when i seen the frame hanging in the shop (No groupset, Seat, wheels, handlebars) i told the guy in the shop that i hated it. he was saying how good the frame is but i still didn’t like it. i went in about a week later and he had the frame groupset, seat, different wheels to the ones i have. ( I bought the wheels about 2 months before etc assembled ) i could’nt believe it was the same bike. Amazing what accessories can do to a frame.
Its not a purchase you make every 6 or so months so the better group set was the go for me.
