I'm sure if you sent him an email he would send you one out.

My LBS left my headset cups in when they powdercoated my bike.

Powdercoat is so thick that it probably wont sit in the cups/bearings like it should.

Hi Eddie,

Since it's powder coated, it won't sit completly flat, giving me some play in the headset. No good in my book.

Make sure you score the seam between race and fork really well before trying to remove the race.

seriously, you can remove the powdercoat with just a blade and about 20 minutes.

hahaha, Damn dude. Your color was the one I envied most. I can't believe you haven't built it up yet. Try the razor blade method. Even if you totally mess up the race, I can order you a new one really cheap.

I bought one at my local shop for $20. Got ripped off, but I wanted one quick, and that is the price of convenience.

GO straight to CK, they will sell you one at cost! bought one 2 years ago for $10. Same with their disco-tech adaptors!

If I'm not to late I'd definitly get one. I just spent about 40 minutes getting all the paint of it and I think it might be a little messed up from the razor blade. If not no big deal either.

too late. I can get one in by next week though. As long as you don't have shards of metal coiling out of the race you should be fine. Take a piece of sandpaper to it to take off any burrs or ridges and try it out. You really can't mess anything up, and if you do, I can order a replacement part cheap.

sounds good. I'll take some sandpaper to it. I didn't know how flat and smooth the race had to be I figured I need this thing to almost be mirror polished. Maybe I don't need a new race after all

not very. Even though king bearings feel like they have really tight tolerances, it's only in one plane. You can have a surprising amount of misalignment at the race or at the topcap and everythign will still roll straight and smooth.
