I love hearing the question, "Are you sponsored!?!?" at the park after you do a 360 or something. haha

Well, I am on a team(minnesotabmx.8m.com), and my team has sponsors, I as an individual, do not.

BMXInvasion on here is sponsored by Dan's Comp, S&M and I think a couple others. And there was that guy that rides for Metal Bikes who posted like... once.

But other than the big companies with free parts sometimes, what do sponsors usually give you anyway?

Why would they sponsor someone with a bike that has a frame that would snap if you tried anything worth seeing on it. You acctually have to be able to do something on your bike to get sponsored you know.

MadMan2k
05-14-06, 09:52 PM
um free parts

What parts does 'goodtimes superstore' make? Or do they buy the parts and then give them to you.

tl62997

goodtimes superstore is makes parts for diamondback hoffman, fit and standard

CMcMahon

Goodtimes Superstore doesn't make any parts.

And I have my doubts that you're sponsored.

I just got picked up by Fit, Odyssey and Vans...

Ok, well i really didnt, but im trying to get sponsored by a local clothing company, which means i would get like 2 shirts and they would never talk to me again. Sponsorship doesnt really interest me becuase for the most part when you get on a team they want you to ride in contests and do all that other stuff, and after riding in my local skateparks contest last year, i didnt like it.

I'm good enough to get sponsored for mountian biking, but I dont want the hassle.

I'm fine with riding as a hobby, everybody I know who has gotten sponsored has turned into a jackass.

CMcMahon
05-15-06, 07:34 PM
Sorry, kid, but do you honestly expect us to believe that some kid on a Diamondback with Chicagoed handlebars that got a wide rear tire because his normal tire wasn't "equipped for tricks" is sponsored by Goodtimes, of all companies? We're not idiots.

wethepeople

What Beerman said.

Also, I still dont get why having the bars forward is called Chicago style, could I get some info/history on that?

CMcMahon
05-15-06, 07:46 PM
I'm not sure why it's called that, but I do know that that's been the phrase since long before I started riding.

Most people that are sponsored dont ride Hi-Ten Frames and sprockets the size of a dinner plate. Not too mention it looks almost, if not completley stock. Why don't you redeem yourself and post some pictures of yourself doing your sponsor worthy riding.

Nice try, thats not even you... that bike dosent have brakes or a gyro like yours, and the other picture is so small you cant even tell what the person is doing in the picture.

Your hands aren't on the bars.

Are you even of the ground in that pic?

I was just about to ask the same thing. It looked like the rider's just about to eject off the grips.

FuzzyRyder

FuzzyRyder
05-15-06, 09:44 PM
No, it's not. Just give up, we know you can't do anything. Why don't you start rollerblading, we don't need people who b.s. all the time in this sport.

CMcMahon
05-15-06, 09:45 PM
You don't start rollerblading; you're just born that way, sort of like the untouchable caste in India.

MadMan2k
05-15-06, 10:01 PM
I used to have roller blades when I was like 8. It was pretty fun I guess.. something to do with friends at least.

I was sponsored for my racing. Yep. Of course, I was the one writing the checks too...

Before my knee exploded I play hockey on rollerblades. Many of you were still in diapers then.

CMcMahon
05-15-06, 10:33 PM
Hockey on rollerblades is not the same as "aggressive inline".

I_Suck_At_BMX
05-15-06, 10:40 PM
agressive what? I think you meant to say getting in the way and dropping in all day.

CMcMahon
05-15-06, 10:44 PM
Well, yeah, but that's what they call it. It's sort of like Bush saying that the war on Iraq qas about WMDs and the Iraqi people, whereas I say that it's about oil and being greedy.

Brian

Hockey on rollerblades is not the same as "aggressive inline".

Yeah, but you still get battered.

CMcMahon
05-15-06, 10:48 PM
I'd much rather tell my girlfriend that I got the hell beaten out of me in a rollerhockey fight than trying to do a Double Backside Fishbrain on a waxed skatepark ledge*.

*Seriously, why the hell do bladers feel the need to wax ledges at parks, even when they have coping?

Or being forced to make the decision at gun point by a pissed of vice president on his wayto go quail hunting probably could of made him make this decision.

I_Suck_At_BMX

*Seriously, why the hell do bladers feel the need to wax ledges at parks, even when they have coping?

It gives them the illusion of doing something other than dropping in
