Road Cycling - Bianchi "AR tubi rinforzati"

I was looking for more information on my older bianchi, and it says "AR tubi rinforzati" on the seat tube. I'm thinking that maybe this is the type of tubing, but I can't find any information on it. My bike is any 80's japenese made bianchi.

Also, i found the serial number on the bottom bracket shell. Does anyone know if bianchi has records that go back far enough to tell me what model etc my bike is?

That was a common designation used by Columbus.One of their tubeets,SLX used internal spiral renforcements in the thick butted ends of the tubes. Lower portion of the steerer tube alos had spiral rifling for re-enfoecement.

but, it doesn't say "columbus" on it, did bianchi make frames from columbus and not say it?

I had a 1986 Bianchi frame. It says Columbus on it.

hmm, my bike is probably 4-6 years older then that one, I wonder if there was a change

also, does anyone know of a Bianchi e-mail address that i could send my serial number to so I could know what model it is?

nope, just a gold decal/sticker that says
Bianchi, then AR on the next line (in big letters) then on the next two lines it says "tubi rinforzati". I'll try to get a picture later.

Bianchi used tubes manufactured by Columbus but
designated as Bianchi tubeset.
You might want to talk to Larry at Mt Airy bicycles
(I think thats the shop name) he is into classic
rides and is very knowledgable. I'm still checking
to see if I can find info on your bike. will let you
