You are mistaken. That is FAR from the best mongoose on the market, but it is better than your shoddy diamondback.

so, i guess nobody here knows mongoose dates?
If it has the frame gusset and is not a loop tail, its around 1980, later they lost the gusset and had loop tails.

That F3 is at least 3 times better than your bike that you ride right now.
You should ride that, and if you have any decent parts on your current hunk of ****, you should put it on the Haro.
here is a picture if anybody cares about this thread anymore.
It looks to be about a mid 80's model. The earlier ones were loop tails (I think) and the earliest from the 70's didn't even have a brake bridge, since they had coaster brakes. Mine was about a 1979. The sprocket on yours is definitely from the later years.

I think its really cool that you know all this, and yes i know thats kinda corny that i told you.
I just think its really cool that people the same age as my parents still ride, and know all this stuff about bikes, i wish my parents rode.
Ok im done babbling.

Dude, I remember when the Scrambler was the bike to own. When I raced in Oz, and there guys my age out there racing with their kids. You should have chosen better parents. :D

and the seat post was just trown in there. i thought it was funny. thoose are just the parts it came with. i got it for 10 bucks. the frame and forks are all ready sand blasted and primered and ready for paint.
The post is definitely newer - mid 80's or so. Not so sure about the frame now. Is there a serial number? And is there the bit where the coaster brake clamps?

Yeah, i would sure love to have parents that understand why cassettes are better than freewheel hubs, and that full 4130 frames are better than my old Huffy (first bmx bike) and if my dad raced or something, that would be sooo cool.
Ok im done.
I had a huffy about 30 years ago...

I had mine about 3 years ago. It was decent, it even said BMX racing approved on the sticker!
It was my first bmx, and i loved it.
Then i got a Mongoose, that lasted like less than year, and for Christmas my grandma got me my Haro Backtrail X1, then about a year and a half later i got my X3 becuase i killed both wheels on the X1 in a bad fall, haha
And now im here, about to get my Fit Flow, hopefully before summer.
I just told you my life story of bikeing.
Thanks.

I don't remember what my first bike was, but it was yellow.
Then there was a Huffy (the full shocker) a Schwinn Scrambler, Mongoose, a few sidehacks, a Redline 600a and Carrera, a Schwinn 10 speed, a MTB ( I forgot the brand) then a Trek MTB, a Trek road bike, a Basso road bike, a Ciocc road bike, a Cannondale road bike, a Cannondale MTB, a custom MTB, a Felt road bike, a Felt cruiser, a Haro cruiser, a Jester beach cruiser, a Backtrail X3, and our tandem. I may have forgotten one or two.
Oh, I think that Mongoose is a 1980 model.
