Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Damaged threads on my Phil hub - Problem / No Problem ?

how'd it happen?

i have a thread problem on a set of phils. trackstar called phil. phil said that if i could hold on til the fall/winter when they annodize my color again, they'll sort it out. it's a track/track set, so i'm fine with that. my problem seems different than yr's though. the lockring threads on one side just sort of vanished. they weren't cross threaded. they just wore out or something. yours look like something smashed them. are the threads still actually there in that spot, or are they flat?

it should clean up when you thread a cog on.

I have no idea how it happened. The wheels arrived (built) just like that. They're brand new. The threads are not completely bent and are only kind of marred at the top. I mentioned it to the builder, but he's on the other side of the country and I can't just have him imspect it for me or trying installing a cog.

I'm hoping that if I clean them up well and thread a cog on they'll be fine.

if the threads are still actually there and you can hand-tighten a cog on and spin it pretty tight past that section without needing a whip, i'd imagine it would be fine.

shipping damage probably, the hubs must have whacked each other in the box.
they'll probably clean up fine, butyou could have a beef with the shipper for packing them improperly.
but it might not be worth the hassle.
