Classic & Vintage - another peugeot inquiry

After 27 years, I'm trying to figure out exactly what model Peugeot I have. It was purchased in France (I used to live there) in 1980. The serial number is 6066587, so I figure it might be a '79 model. I've done a bunch of research on the net trying to figure out the model myself, but unfortunately I don't know enough about naming bike parts, and although I've found some close matches, I'm just not sure.

Here's what I do (think I) know:
- serial number is on bottom bracket, on mounted plate
- Stronglight pedals and crank
- Simplex Prestige rear derailleur
- Shimano front derailleur (I think this is a replacement part I had to get fixed)
- Simplex shifters
- Mafac "racer" brakes
- Normandy Luxe Competition hubs
- Super Champion rims
- came with Christophe clips (no longer on bike)
- Lyotard pedals
- Ava handlebars
- No decals that indicate anything about the frame - just one that says Cadre Allege Peugeot. Makes me think this might be a lower end touring bike.

There is no top decal on the seat post. Frame looks to be 56 cm from top of seat post to center/bottom of BB, 700c wheels.

Rach Yours appears to have a Carbolite 103 frame. I am guessing early 1980s UO-10.

The "Cadre Allege" indicates low-end carbon steel tubing to me, as well, but in US export models, the chrome stays would have been reserved for the PX-10s and similar top-end frames. Things are evidently different in Europe. With a 7-digit serial number starting with a "6," I would have guessed 1976 vintage, rather than 1979.

Did they make lugged carbolite frames?

Yes. I have a lugged '81 Grand Record? (or whatever they renamed the U-08) made of 103 (Carbolite).

I'd put the bike earlier than John E, about mid seventies, by the decals.

The component loadout and lack of cable braze ons suggest a better model, the cadre allegre sticker and lugs a lesser one.

Measure the seatpost size with a pair of calipers; this will help determine the tubing. Is the rear derailleur attatched to the frame or a claw that is then attatched to the frame? (ie is the hanger integral to the frame or not?)

I'm thinking upgraded PA10.

The seat post appears to be 25 mm in diameter.

Looks to me like the derailleur is attached to the frame, save for a small washer-like piece in between. The end of the rear fork also says Simplex, so I would guess it's what's known as a "Simplex forged fork end", but I'm getting out of my league here. See attached. Thanks.

Well, this is a confusing bike. The Chrome rear stays and some of the equipment loadout suggest PX10, but the rest of it, post diameter, tubing sticker, etc. scream PA10. I'll stick with my original assesment for now. Someone may come along and convince me otherwis, or confirm my suspiscions.
