I think your right. Wasn't it not given out to the race leader till 1930 or 31? I don't know if they had anything before that.

The leader of the GC is the rider who has the fastest time when all the stage results are added together. The final leader of the GC is judged to be the overall winner of the Giro. It is akin to the maillot jaune of the Tour de France or the Jersey de Oro of the Vuelta a España.
The color pink was chosen in honor of the founding newspaper, the La Gazzetta dello Sport. La Gazzetta is known for the bright pink paper that it is printed on.
And yes, 1931 was the first year the leader wore pink.

+1, Bob, and Phil mentioned that on OLN coverage that the color pink came form the newspapers sports page that was pink.

Central Pennsylvania is very different from Toronto. You could call us backwards, but I'd rather ride here - at least considering terrain and traffic. (The D'Ornellas club was very nice to me when I visited there last summer.) :)

The green jersey at the Giro is the climbers jersey. Thier sprinters jersey is a maroon colour.....find a photo of Robbie.

I used to love the old one with the white sleeves. It was a deeper colour than the one Robbie is wearing. Ultimate in 70's and 80's cool IMO.

You got the easy part that was a trick question for TDF only types. What abotu the harder part? How many people have both greens? I know you can name at least one if you stop and think.

Got the easy one. Since Eddy has all major tour jerseys except the Vuelta KOM.
The other is Franco Bistoti.
Giro KOM in 64,65 and 66
TDF Sprinters in 68
Giro Sprinters in 69 and 70
Opposite of what has been recent history of guys who have both sprinters and KOM jerseys.
