I would rather have a headwind going to work, than returning home.

Also, this should probably be in another forum but I purchased my
first helmet (3 years commuting) and do I ever look like a tool....

I'm probably in the same mindset. Mainly because there is more traffic going home from work and I can work less hard on fighting the headwind and put more into negotiating with drivers. Also the PM commute is hot and with a headwind feels like riding into a blow dryer.

Why does your new helmet make you look like a tool? Did you get a color or style you don't like?

when I was a messenger I was called an "alien" at least 2 times a day in elevators, because I wore a helmet and tinted glasses (orange tint).

So I'm guessing I looked like a bigger tool.

Perhaps that should be referred to as a power tool.

but I'd rather look like a tool and be alive after having some idiot in a car run my a$$ over and then be a cool dead guy. (remember the movie White Men Can't Jump?)

blah blah blah blah helmets only prevent minor injuries blah blah blah
There it is done.
Crud this isn't A&S :p

My helmet is the cheapest bell. Ugly looking piece of junk. Since I already have a helmet, I keep delaying the purchase of a new one. Someday.....

I just do not believe that bicycle helmets are attractive, any of them. Makes me feel like Tron.....

The best is when you have a tailwind going in, and the wind shifts in the afternoon and you get a tailwind coming home too. This happened to me several times when I was doing some long distance commuting a couple years ago. Of course, what goes around comes around, one time I had a strong headwind going in, and it shifted the opposite way, and had a strong headwind coming home, too.

funny...when i started riding i thought the same thing about helmets. now, i'm completely opposite - helmetless riders look like the biggest tools to me.

I don't think my wife would be appreciative. What she doesn't know won't hurt me. :p

Anyhow, what helmet do you have? I'm still hunting. Don't exactly want to spend the $$ for a bell sweep.

Maybe if you got yourself a really flashy codpiece nobody would notice your helmet (?)

The influx looks nice to me. Google the Bell Arc Fs.
Ugh! What was I thinking?
