Any one know one?
Saturday and I will be doing my 100mile offroad and I am beginning to feel frustrated. Official drought warnings came out yesterday so what did the weather do? It chucked it down. Admittedly the trail is so dry that it could do with a bit of rain to settle the dust but more rain is forecast till Sunday.
Mud riding is something that I often do but not on such a tiring course as this one. Plenty of Open expanse of Chalk and wet chalk is similar to Ice. Damp chalk is like Black ice as you do not know where it is or the grip that will not be available.
Then there is Tyre Choice- My prefered tyre will be a slightly knobbly tyre as it rolls well and little drag- unfortunately little grip in the wet- so it looks as though I will have to use a Panaracer FIRE XC. This is a good tyre on the Hills and a good solid tread - in fact a good tyre for our local conditions. Only thing is they drag a bit more and damage very easily. Then there are the MUD tyres- Narrow things with Massive great big spikes of rubber. Definitely work in mud but not a comfortable tyre on anything firm.
So if any one knows anything better than the Soft Shoe Shuffle- then start doing it for the sake of 401 riders- The tandem got a single entry- that would like to get a sun tan on Saturday.
Thanks for your co-operation.
