Hi, i recently was doing something like an overhaul on an old pair of hubs, and realized the cones had been galled from the bearings and figured that theyd be useless. But as i looked at the wear line, it s moved from the top of the cone race to the bottom of the cone race, therefore the cones and bearings are rights ones(right?),does this mean the hub is still usable?
Thanks for your guys input.

Unless there is pitting or actual grooving of the metal that makes the hubs feel rough when spun, I would say go ahead and run them. Might not hurt to replace the bearings, which are cheap. Get high grade bearings, 25 maybe? They only cost pennies more.

Banett's manual suggests that the wear pattern you are describing (I think) means a bent axle, which should be replaced.
