Mountain Biking - Bike for 600 CDN

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I have 600 CDN to purchase a mountain bike.
I'm planning on using it for beginner trails, dirt jumps, and drops up to about 4 feet.
At the moment I'm looking at a hardrock sport with disc breaks.
Just wondering which bike you think I should get and why?

Right on, go for the hardrock for sure. That was also my first bike and 2 years later I am still using the frame on my freeride hardtail bike. The frame is a little twisted but i guess i abussed it a little to, (like 12ft to flat) but its all good.
