I'm from New Jersey. I was in S/W Florida ten days ago looking for property to buy. Nice place, but cold! Heck, it only got up to 73 degrees while I was there! Of course as I write this it's about 30 outside going down to 19.
Most of the natives thought I was nuts for wearing shorts and a pullover shirt during my Florida tour. They'd say "we can tell you're a northerner". I'd tell them "Wrong, born and raised in Hollywood Florida. I'm a true native Floridian". Then I had one person call me a "Cracker". I had to have this explained to me. Being that "crackers" were the early cattlemen settlers of the S/W Florida area, the term cracker derived from the cracking of their bullwhips, I replied that I didn't qualify because my parents were both transplants from the northeast. But they both did appreciate a good steak! ;)
