Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Ummm...How did I wind up with a girl's bike?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Man, I rip on dudes with pink bikes and crap all the time. Well, turnabout is fair play. :D
I kinda dig it, though.

sweet. I was just reading/replying to that thread. I think what makes it girly isn't the pink rims themselves but the play between the pastel-ish celeste and the pink.
Was that the fork from the first frame?

Eh well, anyone who rides a bike like that down the street is okay in my books.
So many people wouldnt even touch that thing... I think its kinda happy.. rather easter-ish... ;)

mine's WAY more girlie than yours. i could my little pony the hell out of yours. don't feel too sissyish. sleep confidently in yr masculinity knowing that there's a bike in NYC that looks like shera, hello kitty, strawberry shortcake and my little pony got together for some hot saphocyclist kink and their collective tantric plasti-power spawned something that begs every child under the age of 15 to ask me or their parents, "why?"

i really have. my girlfriend won't let me live it down and everyone just refers to it as "my little pony." i've been forced to assimilate.

I envisioned an all black bike (frame, wheels, bars, etc...) at the start of the project cuz...well...no one has ever done that before. :p
I bought the frame/fork and went on the hunt for some wheels and a crankset. Well, the dude with the Dura Ace crankset gave me a sweet deal on the wheels, too if I got the the cranks + wheels and other stuff.
So, the pink on black didn't look half bad:
http://static.flickr.com/56/137177008_12c1ada004.jpg
But, the BB shell was stripped. Bianchi didn't have any black frames left from 2003-2004, so they sent a green one and here I am.
I went from the Black Knight to the Easter Bunny in 6 weeks.

Sucks they didn't have any 2003s left, but the celeste isn't too shabby at all.
Very nice, in fact.
Honestly. I think that bike is pretty hot.Even for a dude
But i think it would be way nicer with all black wheels and a black crankset.

i actually like the celeste over the black frame with the pink... when the frame was black, the pink was the only color on it, so all the attention is there, with the celeste, it balances the pink much better.

That bike would look perfect in Miami circa 1985 w/ some matching pastel clothing like these dudes got.

the only things i don't like about VD's bike...mismatched pink hubs/rims. lack of risers with pom poms on them. the end.

i don't like my chainring. i gotta do something about it, but it's quiet and functional. pompoms would be a plus. i wanna see how it looks with the orange and green wheels in the background. then i'd truly be able to give the nagasawa a run for its money. ****ing bike rides insanely though. there's nothing like a custom frame...

No, the fork on the other bike was matte blk with no label on it.

Wouldn't you be better off selling those pink rimmed wheels and buying a black or silver set? Maybe you could exchange them with somebody who wants girly wheels and has a plain-looking set. They would even buy a beer for you, I feel.
But if you like'em, more power to you.
Otherwise, great bike. I've always loved Pista Concepts, and I really dig this black-celeste combo with the fork mirroring the frame colours. Hotness.

Mighty nice Bob. Where, how, how long, how much?
ordered it from jackson thru worldclass in november. if there's one thing jackson is, it's slow. the bike took nearly 6 months to get to me. apparently the chromed stays, the adjustable paul dropouts and the custom paint on the dropouts, fork crown, seat tube, etc. made the bike get lost in various corners of various production facilities for weeks on end. i think in the end, the frame was around 1200 bucks. it's a mix of reynolds 6 and 7 with some oversized tubing as determined by where i had flex problems with my other bikes.
As girly as that bob jackson is. I think its pretty fresh.

I'm tall, and proportioned so that I can't ever seem to get my seat back far enough to be totally comfortable. Looks like you might have solved that, eh?
Very, very nice.
ps-- Please, please have that chainring powdercoated to match your wheels. Please.
Oh, and some tassels thus:

trade the wheels out...but that's just me. seriously, i like your ride but i have thing about pink phils on poink rims that don't match,
oh yeah...pom poms are like...2 bucks for a pair. i'll do it on a build coming soon.

the setback thomson posts are great--as are short chainstays and correctly proportioned toptubes. i had the same problems with my proportions on off-the-rack bikes. it drove me nuts.
oddly, a friend gave me a my little pony helmet, my little pony pink horn and bar tassles to match at the superheroes alleycat yesterday. i'm not opposed to incorporating all of this stuff in a photo when i get around to shooting one for FGG.
i'm definitely getting a couple of zen rings either powdercoated to match the rims or anodized to match the hubs.
HC, i'll try those other wheels out. they're amazing. the rear is a hybrid crow's foot and is stiff as hell.
