Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I want to know how many miles a week a junior should be doing to be at least some what good?
Hi there. We're about the same age. Welcome to the Forums.
Well, first, what are your goals? What's "good" to you? Are you racing? Riding a certain organized ride? Think of these things first, before you concentrate on mileage. There are a lot of things to work on before mileage. Try bike handling skills, saftey in traffic, race tactics (if you're racing).
Once you have the basics down, then you can start looking at what is going to get you to your goals. It may be surprising to you, but mileage might not be your answer. Say one of your big goals is to beat your best bud in the usual town sprint you do every ride. You don't need mileage to do that. You'll try some speed and power training.
Think of some goals, then get back to us and ask what you can do to reach them.

I'm nearly 16 and before last years road nats in October I was doing upwards of 350km a week. It really depends how serious you are about it. I've got a coach that works out all my training programs and I'd say that's one of the the most useful things you can do, get someone experienced that you can talk to regularly and organise a training schedule. As velo says it's not all about miles though.
