Hi there,

I've been lurking for a while, and reading up on fixies. here it has become rather popular and I was trying to figure what it was all about. Now I caught myself pondering about getting one. Then I figured I just got my first oldy roadbike so lets stay with it till budget fills a bit:rolleyes:

Anyway, I'm writing cause I've just realised that my first ever bike when i was like 3 or 4 or so was a fixie, with no brakes:O no training wheels, and the wheel had no tubes but those full-rubbery like thing. It was brown, with a ******** looking rabbit logo in the front, with russian letters telling: zaichik - which means rabbit....I was using that bike till I grow out of it, so at least 3 years. heh, my parents were really brave to let us drive with those things without brakes (its very hilly around here). then again, back in the 80's in hungary there weren't really lotsa children bikes with training wheels on stock...

So maybe its the nostalgy that is intriguing about fixed gear;) I'd loved to try out one. wouldn't it be odd to walk up to someone who has it and ask to let me try it? :o

heh, now that you are talking about backwards driving I remember doing it, and loosing in the process rather large pieces of my shines when the homemade wooden pedal hit it as it was verrrry slippery:O

...maybe I should really get fixed...
