What is your favourite holiday destination and why. I am off to Abu Dhabi in 3 weeks, curtesy of my parents who work there. I would never have pictured myself going there, but hey it is free!
I hear that they have quite an established bikeclub/ride thing going there, but I will be leaving the trusty steed at home.

Poulla.. I would say if it is not water related( tropical warm, island-like surrounding) then our favorite spot on the planet is one of two places... Provence or the Rousillon coast of France...
Favorite tropical getaway- State of Hawaii or Tahiti...

My fav. destination aside from Niagara falls, is the highway going up Antipolo City, and the zig-zag of Baguio City in the Philippines, if compared to mount ventoux in France, Mount ventoux is 10 and the zigzag of Baguio is like 6 or 7

Palau Sipidan Malaysia is one of my favourites
and so is Ponta d'Oro in Mocambique (or Ponta Malangane).
No biking at either one (well mountain/cross would work
in Mocambique) but the diving is Great.

Somewhere else - There are lots of places Ive enjoyed, and the Bernese Oberland rates one of the best. Tuscany, Brittany, Rhine & Mosel, Canadian Rockies, Cotswolds, Virginia Beach are all different varieties of excellent. I just want to experience some other ones.

Actually, our California has some grandiose locations- like our Sierra Nevada or Yosemite.. Incredible, so we do not have to go too far to enjoy some incredible scenery.
But, I am a Michiganian by birth.. My car has a bumper sticker on it that says' "Say Yeah, to the UP, Heah." Gets lots of puzzled looks, so far from Michigan.. The 'UP' being the Upper Peninsula and 'Say Yeah'- A Michigan slogan originating from the UP's Scandavian ancestry.
So I shall always have a special place for "God's Country," as we think Hawthorne choose to see the North of Michigan.. Some of the world's most scenic attractions are the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, Isle Royale, and the hilly scenery of the western part of the 'U.P,' along the Lake Superior shore.. I recall special summers walking the great dunes of the Western Shore of Lake Michigan's "Beaver Island."
Well, on a 'domestic' vacation', -stateside - these are among my favorite places...
