Touring - homemade saddlebag support?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I have a carradice barley attached to a b-17, and I'm getting some irritating thigh rub. I wonder if anybody out there has fashioned their own supporter for the same set-up? The supports made for such seem way over-priced.

I have a super c saddlebag and use and sqr uplift. I know you want to avoid spending the money but sometimes a little more money is worth the time and effort to jerry rig something that may or may not work. I got an additional mounting block this year and it has been great to use the bag in a matter of seconds between bikes. As long as you have a fist or more worth of seat post you have some adjustment. I have a larger then average posterior and have no problems with rubbing. One bike has a b-17 and the other a champion flyer.
We use Brooks B67 saddles & Carradice Camper Longflap saddlebags. The saddle has a horizontal rail (left to right) at the lower rear; we run a 1" nylon strap from that rail down to the rear rack (or brake bridge) & back up to the saddle, then buckle the bag's leather strap (that is supposed to go around the seatpost) around the nylon strap. The nylon strap holds the bottom of the Carradice bag further rearward, leveling it out. You might give it a try.
I used to have a wonderful support that I can no longer find and am looking for something similar.
It was a single piece of steel, bent to hook around the seat stays ( a little springy) and the ends where it hooked around the stays were rubber coated.
On and off the bike in seconds with no tools, gave a nice flat support that kept the bag out of the cables and off your legs.
You could even put it on the racer, then take it off again in seconds.
Somewhere in the various moves I seem to have lost it but would love to find something similar again.
