Give me a chain to clean & lube any time. Give me a bottom bracket to grease just for the fun of it. Never, never complain about maintenance on a bicycle.

Drill a hole in the bottom of that bottom bracket - then it won't fill up with water like that when it rains.

I love working on my bike.... so much that the first BikeForums group I read is Bike Mechanics.

Yep, that's what happens when you bury a KX250 motocrosser in a 3 foot deep mud hole. And I do mean bury, where nothing but one end of the handlebar is visible. That's the piston and rod sticking up out of the crank case which is filled with muddy water. The man who suggested WD40 wins the grand prize. A four stroke motor would have been a write off but 2 strokes are wonderfull contraptions. After flushing with clean water, then filling the crank case with WD40 and finally flushing with gas/oil mix it's good as new, well almost. But now I have to go through every bearing from the steering head to the swing arm and wheels. Fun, fun, fun! Like I said, never ever complain about how hard it is to maintain bicycles!

I once got my Hodaka (100cc 2-stroke) a littletoo deep and sort of squished the piston. (water does not compress) About 20 bucks for a new piston, ring, top-end bearing and gasket (1974 or so) and it was good as new.

I havn't found any water in a BB yet, but I did remove a dead hornet from one...

I did that once. Had a hooker on the back. Wheelied into a previously shallow creek. She was not impressed. Once the water gets immulsified, kerosene is your friend. Only in the PI.

I did that to my brother in laws 250 once. I buried it in a hole that he said was not that deep. Only the bars were showing. We did the same thing. Brought it home flushed it out and fired it up. Ran OK once everything dried out. 2 strokes are pretty tough to kill. I have seen outboards in fresh water submerged for a few days come out and run once flushed out. Salt water is a different story.
