Bicycle Mechanics - Rockshox rebuild

I am rebuilding a "96 rockshox judy xc. I have new type 2 springs. I've ordered replacement elastomers.
Now I'm trying to get into the lower tubes to check the bushings and cartridges, but I can't seem to get the lower tube assembly off. The manual says to just remove two bolts from the bottom and just slide the lower tubes off, but something is stopping it. I've dissassembled every part I can get at, and it won't come apart. Does anyone know what's going on? Please help....

Put the two bolts back in about half way and tap them with a hammer to break loose the inner rods.

...and have an oil pan ready.

Thanks man. I got it apart, and it looks like someone gutted the thing. The lower tubes are empty.
Does anyone know where I can get replacement cartridges. What else do I need, Bushings?

Ok, I found out that Risse made a good cartridge for this fork, but I've been unable to locate one so far.
EKO Sport (which is now MRP), makes an air cartridge for my fork. They have a 72 mm in stock and an 85mm which requires modification. They cost $125. White Bros. and RCR made cartridges, but supposedly they are worse than the rockshox cartridge. What should I do? ...and please don't tell me to buy a new fork. I'm determined to fix this thing. By the time I replace the headset and stem with threadless, buy a Judy tt, J2, manitou axel, or whatever, and ride it for a few months, I'd be looking at doing the same upgrades to that fork. Besides, I already bought the springs and elastomers. Oh, and this might sound like a dumb question, but bear with me, I'm new at this. Do I need a cartridge in both sides, or just one? Any advice from a guru out there would be greatly appreciated....

Check ebay. There's always spare judy parts listed, and don't rule out buying an entire fork if the price is low enough. It's always good to have spare parts.

The Judy XC and SL had only one cartridge - compression. The DH had two - compression and rebound.

Thanks... I found most of the parts I need. I'm a bushing and some oil away from fixing this thing. I tried to buy the same fork on ebay for parts but it topped out at $93.00. That makes me feel a little better about rebuilding it. I think that when I'm done with this, it will be way better than the judy tt my LBS was trying to sell me. Maybe I'll even save up for an England Air cartridge for it. cheers...
