Introductions - G'day from New Jersey!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi all, this is my first post and also my first comeback to cycling. I'm 22, a Rutgers University student and I've just bought a Mercier Galaxy for my first try at riding a road bike. So far (mainly do to bad weather) I've only ridden it about 10 miles, but all 10 thus far have been some of the best riding I've ever done.
Hope to hear from all of you and especially anyone in the New Brunswick/Highland Park/Piscataway area. Anyone interested in setting up a ride to Washington Rock?
Cheers!
Chris

One other thing I should note, though I'm not a shill, I did indeed buy this bike from sprtymam on e-bay, mainly because I liked the look of the bike and the components seemed to be pretty decent (at least compared to my old Nishiki...). Does anyone else on this forum have a Galaxy? I was hoping that the components would last at least 3 years or so, with an average use of maybe 400 miles per month?

Welcome to BikeFourms! Do you do plan to do any riding with RU's club/team?

Hey, nice to see NJ representing. Maybe we can pull together a group ride sometime.
Where is Washington Rock?
I live down in the Robbinsville area, not far from West Windsor, on the Route 130 corridor. People call it the lost corner of NJ because no one seems to know where it is but there some nice roads out why and Mercer County Park, which has some docile mountain biking.

Haven't really thought much about the RU team, as I'm not really all that competitive in that aspect. I just like to have fun, and make new friends.
Washington Rock is out near Rt. 21 I think, though I'm not 100% certain. I do know, however, that there's an awesome view of the area from the top and a good view of the New York Skyline. I've never been to Robbinsville, but I'd be up for a trip down there.
Another idea I'd had was for a group trip to Frenchtown, then we all ride from there down to New Hope, PA. Anyone know about the feasibility of this?

I've heard of people riding from Rutgers to this area, and New Hope is not that far away from here. Check out njbikemap.com to plan a route.

Here's a homeboy that no doubt wouldn't mind joining some lycra clad guys who shave their legs...

You will find a lot of people opposed to Critical Mass on this forum. Many people think cyclists should ride as part of the traffic, rather than messing with the rest of the traffic.

Ah Montreal!
A bientot!
