View Full Version : Looking for recommendations on new bike
Hello all. I'm new here and was just doing some research on what kind of bikes are out on the market these days. I haven't ridden a BMX bike in a little over 20 years but used to race and freestyle way back. The mountain bikes and ten speeds just don't do it for me so was interested in picking up a BMX for some fun. I used to ride an early 80s Mongoose and later a Hutch for racing.
Just looking to do some street\dirt riding and get some wheelies down again. I have had my eye on a Mongoose freestyle bike but am open to other ideas. My price range is $600 and under for starters. There are a few bike shops in the area but few of them have much in the way of BMX inventory. Also interested in finding out if there are any "go to" shops online to check out.
Thanks for any suggestions.

See if you can get an Eastern Jane or Ace of Spades, or a Fit Flow. Those should be pretty close to your pricepoint, and they're very good bikes.

specialized fuse lll
Thanks for the replys. I am considering the Fit Flow and Specialized bikes as an alternative. Now to find out where to shop for these. The local bike stores have a very small and generic line up of BMX bikes.
Thanks again.

Well folks I ended up going with an Eastern Ace of Spades. All they had in stock were the lower end specialized fusion which is the same frame but lower qual components. The cranks looked like I would have roasted em the first day :P I haven't touched a BMX bike in over 20 years but after an hour of refamiliarization we were jumping and doing wheelies again. :D
Good fun......
Thanks for the suggestions all.
Oh btw the first upgrade is a new seat....the stock seat made my @@@ sore!

Haha, and i would have to get Lyposuction too, becuase that boy is skinnnny, and im, well...not.
I entered the Fit Flow contest on DansComp, that one is free(since plastic surgery would cost a few)
But thanks for your help.

Haha yeah, the surgury would cost a hell of a lot more then it would to just go out and buy all the stuff offered in the contest. But if you like feeling the joy of winning something it may be worth it....haha

Im hoping i just win the Dans Comp contest, if not, i have more than enough money for the frame, headset, bb and a new back wheel.
And i really want those Fit Flow Hi-lite bars.
