I work for a tertiary education system (Department of Technical and Further Education)(TAFE). I am employed as an Animator to create animation for learning materials like, CDROMS, video, print stills and web stuff. I used to be a Photographer for the same organisation until 1996 when I got interested in digital photography and progressed from there.

Believe it or not I have just been made redundant, I guess animation is that exciting anymore.

Network technician on a large Wan administering exchange servers. Telphony can be included in there as well but that is easy compared to admining (haha not a word). I am also an intranet designer / db admin but that doesn't play a very large part of my job yet.

I worked at my dad's mail store during high school, then managed the place during my two years of college. In all honestly, I learned more working there then at school. I'm glad i did it, even if it was min wage.

Now i work for M$, but have plans on running my own business in the near future.

i'm a software engineer currently doing java software development for bank stock and securities software.

i got my BSEE in '94, then worked for 6 years as a software developer, then spent i year working on a PhD, loved it but wasn't sure of what i wanted to do, so now for 1 1/2 years i'm back in the software insustry.

i'm 32 and still trying to figure out what i want to do with my life... hey, at least it's not boring... at least that's what i tell myself!

as for my other jobs during school:
age 14 - mowed lawns and washed cars and other simple jobs
15 - grocery store - package clerk, stocker, checker
16-17 - restaurant busboy
16-17 - retail clothing sales
17- pizza delivery
18 - grocery store - checker
19-23 - summer engineering internships with electronics companies and during college (fall/spring) pizza delivery and kid care (like a nanny)

back when i was a teenager, you couldn't really get a job doing any computer or technical stuff, so that's really cool Brian that you're already getting to do some jobs where you learn some skills. i set up my own BBS when i was 15 (1985-86) and was really involved in that scene, but at 300 or maybe wow 1200 baud there just weren't possiblities like there are today. plus, one of my online buddies got all his hardware confiscated by the authorities b/c he had some copyrighted materials on the site and my parents made my take down my BBS.

I'm a project coordinator for a small association and a grad student. I get to manage budgets, maintain our website, build databases, basic software support, and research. On top of all that I am hoping to become active again with my sorority, help people with brain injuries become computer literate, and do some policy research for a women's political group. If I still have time I am planning on taking over the world. Anybody want to be Pinky to my Brain?:D

Those were the days. I ran a hug bbs of 600 users on a 300 baud modem and eventually, over many years, got up to a huge speed of 28.8 :D...I sure miss those days...sometimes

Since 1980 I have worked in the semiconductor industry, in various aspects of design, applications engineering, and technical marketing. In addition, for the past 10 years I have taught Verilog HDL, an electronic design/simulation language/tool, at UCSD Extension. My current career adventure is at a startup company in the emerging (we hope!) field of ultrawideband (UWB) communications.

... There seem to be quite a few techies and teachers in this forum!

High School ESE (Special Ed.) teacher and coach. Currently just a track coach but have also over the years coached wrestling and football (US type) and 1 year did all three. I teach a few history courses for the local Comm. College as an adjunct which I thoroughly enjoy as that's my true academic field.

My first job may have been my best; throwing an afternoon local paper from my bike when I was 12 or so. No more "paperboys" and precious few afternoon papers today.

I'm a lawyer.

(Yep. I know what you'd call 100 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean and how sharks won't attack and how the lawyer brain transplant was so expensive... :p But that's okay. Nobody appreciates a good lawyer joke as much as a we do.)

I am a legal consultant to the State Legislature. Interesting job most days but there are times when I'm tempted to ask the bike messengers whether their companies are hiring. :)

I draw cartoons, teach drawing cartoons, draw more cartoons, drink beer, post randomly on internet chat rooms, draw even more cartoons, mess around with bicycles, ride kayaks, and draw yet more cartoons.
For some of these activities I am paid. Not much, not even enough to buy that pretty Colnago in the window, but enough to live. I haven't had a "real" job in several years now...

Interesting how many people here work in tech jobs. I would therefore conclude that an unusually high number of people here are single as well. (sorry I had to say it, plus the shoe fits, so I wear it)
I'm a sophomore studying mechanical engineering. When class is in session, I work in network and telecommunications for the school. Over breaks, I'm the tool guy at Sears. During the summer, I usually work Sears and bale hay.
