if i am very careful, is it okay to remove canti bosses from CrMo seat stays? would i ruin the integrity of the frame? any advice on how to take them off?

the bike frame in mind is the Soma Juice 29er frame.

thanks

Here's how I do it:

- cut or grind off most of the boss with a saw or grinder
- use varying grades of sandpaper to smooth out the area
- wrap the sandpaper around the tube to avoid flat spots
- be patient
- practice on a junk MTB frame

If they are brazed on a torch would be the cleanest way to get them off. If they are tig'd then use the above mentioned method.

I have taken them off forks and my frame. I was using my bike for trials and skatepark riding and had no problems. So I can't see it hurting the frame at all. Besides it looks a lot smoother and cleaner when they are removed.

I don't like subjecting an assembled frame to additional heat.

Grinder/file/crocus cloth in a shoe-shine fashion is my preferred method.
