Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - flip flop hub question

Hi, I have been using a pair of wheels, and I was under the impression that I had a flip flop hub, because initially I asked for a free wheel just to make sure my body was capable of riding still. Now on the drive side of my hub is the free-wheel and a cog there, but on the left side of my hub I have another cog in place.

Is this easily flippable, or am I still missing something. Sorry if you all think I am a troll, I just needed some honest help, so thanks in advance if you all know.

Yeah, just flip the entire wheel. That's it.

Is the left side cog a freewheel too, or a fixed cog?

Also, I don't think you can tell what kind of threads you have unless you remove the cogs.
Freewheels can thread onto a set of fixed threads, but not the other way around.

And, just to be sure, there is a lockring on the fixed side, correct?

you can just flip the wheel, but you might want to make sure you have a proper lockring with reverse threading on the side with the fixed cog.

Yes, the lockring is what I was wondering about? Should I do a google image search and see what comes up. I am at work right now, and my bike is at home so I don't have it to look at, I am assuming it does,

It's just a metal ring that should be right up next to the cog.

If you've got a flip flop hub you've got genuine fixed cog/reverse lockring threading on at least one side.....so I would assume it has a reverse lockring on with the fixed cog. But check just to be sure.... Exactly what kind of hub it is?

somepeople put a fixed cog on the freewheel side, then put a bottom bracket lockring on top of that.
It's ineffective because both thread off in the same direction.

to be safe you might want to take it to your LBS and have them check it out. , or do some research and do it yourself.
i'd suggest the latter, it's always good when you can learn something new to maintain your bike.

excellent! I just called my girlfriend and asked her to take a look and she said she saw the lockring so that's excellent, i am very excited to ride fixed as opposed to single speed.

But since we've established it's a flip/flop and one side has a freewheel on it, aren't we safe to assume the other side is double threaded?

I guess it's possible that the LBS put the freewheel on the fixed side and then put the fixed cog and BB lockring on the freewheel side, but that'd just be retarted.

I think maybe some mountain bike hubs, but I'm not sure on that, and they're uncommon, and it sounds like his case is a fixed/free or fixed/fixed hub.
