Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I just picked up a nice set of hi flange Campy 36 hole hubs for my new project track bike.
Does anyone know where I can find bright red rims? I'm thinking powdercoat bright red like a fire engine.
Thanks

Can one actually order rims from Velocityusa.com?
I didn't think you could.
In which case, call Yojimbo's Garage in Chicago, they have the best stock of colored Deep Vs I know.

I guess it's possible he only wants to look at pictures of them.
And just hold his new campy hubs up against said picture.
For some people, that's enough.

actually you can get red in anodized or powdercoated, or at least you used to. hence my machined electric red anodized rims

they're actually a deeper red than the powdercoated.

powdercoating = ruined by brake pads.
right??
hyperRevue

I think any colored non-machined rim, either anondized or powdercoated, will be destroyed by brake pads.
Powdercoating might take a little longer to wear off, however.

oh well if it is machined then I'm postive that it will be destroyed. But machined colored rims do exist.

Huh?
Colored velocity rims come in both machined (with the bare braking surface) and non-machined.

try superspokes.com. it's a pain in the ass to navigate, but they sell velocity rims all the way at the bottom right of the velocity page.

Is is strange that smaller IROs have sloping downtubes, while larger ones don't? Or is that an optical illluuuusionn?

as far as i can tell, my tt slopes very slightly down towards the seat tube. however, in the crappy picture i posted, the rear wheel is lower than the front wheel - my saddle is set level

they should do something about that. that being said, you can get rims that sell for far too much on ebay for something reasonable there, if you're willing to dig.

When I call I'm going to ask if they'll build a set of wheels around my old hubs. I was thinking of black spokes.
hyperRevue
05-23-06, 04:37 PM
They definitely would, but that would require you sending them your hubs, which is probably more of a hassle.
I'd just get the rims and take it to a local shop to get built.

so I'm reading through and a little confused. Does velocity make an anodized non-machined red Deep V rim?

Non-machined + Anondized?
Not sure.
Non-machined + Powdercoat?
yes.

http://www.superspokes.com/wheels.html very bottom on the right side. $46.75 sounds like a good deal. Anybody order from this site before, problems? thanks
My buddy and I ordered a couple sets of deep v rims from them. Navigation is a biotch on the site, but they were very prompt with email questions (he wrote right back from his blackberry). The rims were drop shipped from Velocity to my buddy's place, no problem. I'm going to order a set of white nm deep v's from them real soon.

I ordered everything I'll need for my new wheels today. The folks at Yojimbo's were very cool. I got the red deep V velocity rims, silver nipples, spokes, tires and tubes on the way.
