putting on a new 23mm tyre to find that you now have about -0.5mm seat-tube clearance [and vertical dropouts]

Stay away from the Specialized All Condition tires. 23mm tread on a higher-volume body means they're a lot fatter than the normal 23mm. Fantastic tire, but not for low-clearance applications.

I tried putting 28's on my old Giant conversion and discovered that the wheel wouldn't turn.

Now I use a well worn Gatorskin. The flat spot gives me nice clearance.

but then i lose the rolling resistance advantage i gained by running tubulars!
