Hi Everyone,
I have a Downtube. I'm finding that when I ride it further than 10 miles or so, the saddle begins to feel uncomfortable and chafe a little. Would it be difficult to change saddles? I'd like to find a saddle that is made for a woman's anatomy, but is a narrower saddle with less padding.

I am about to try a brooks champion s or b66(or is woman's 67?)(I like the women's brooks for my body - the men's are rather long for me - although I am using the b17 on my raleigh hybrid) on my downtube - I have put my b17 on there too - but I needed sprung saddle for my non suspension downtube - changing saddle is easy - a lot of women like various Terry saddles too.
Brooks can be ordered, fromm among others, from Wallingford - who has a good return policy; - or from SantaFe bikes - who have great prices
Brooks makes a few different womens saddles

Money back guarentee from Wallingford.

My favorite saddle is the saddleco saddle. It is by far the most comfy saddle I have ever owned. Unfortunately they seem to have encountered some financial issues and are not shipping any product now.
Thanks,

Thanks, Everyone, for the suggestions. I'm glad to know it won't be difficult to switch saddles. I'll talk to my LBS about it.
Thanks again,

I love my sprung Lepper 65 saddle( leather with no padding) I do not miss the padding at all and I am no lightweight at over 190 lbs. I think a sprung ladies Brooks would be a good choice.
Hi Yan, one thing I like about the stock Downtube saddle is how big it is. At 6', I'm near the limit for seatpost extension to get me the right bike fit. So the stock saddle helps because it's so tall.
Out of curiosity: was progress made on finding a longer seatpost solution? (~50-100 mm longer)?

I could not get a longer post, however we increased the seat tube length on all future bikes.
Thanks,
Yan
On 2006 models seat tube is longer than 2005?
Thanks for writing,

My wife likes Terry models. She also likes the women-specific saddles by Specialized (but under a different name that I cannot recall at the moment).

I do not know the difference of 2005 to 2006 but Yan recently commented on a different thread that the current 2006+1/2 frames are 2" larger than the 2006... and that may well be in the seattube.
6-foot is not so tall -- perhaps you are particularly long-legged? I am the opposite. I'm pretty sure I need to move my seat due to the length of my torso (to increase distance to the handlebars), but I'm afraid that will ruin the geometry of my pedal stroke. I'm such a newbie that I can't tell by feel...

Fitted a Brooks B17 to mine. Yan, do you source different saddles for the UK than are supplied in the US, mine was only a little longer than the diameter of the post! As to the question, have a look at www.mtbr.com go to product reviews, saddles. Their product reviews are the most useful, and easy to use, that I've seen.

UK bikes are identical to the US bikes.
