Advocacy & Safety - It's not even worth talking to them

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So I'm travelling east on Front Street, downtown Penticton. Cars and minivans are parked along the right side, so my lane position is just beyond the 'door zone'.
And of course I get buzzed, and then right hooked by an asshat on his way to park at Slack Alices (nudie bar). Well, I was calm, and just rode up to him as he got out of his car, and POLITELY said "Sir, ya know you passed me a little close back there..."
BAM.... out flew the obscenities.

Nothing makes me angrier than when I'm accused of not helping out around the house. I get angriest when I actually haven't been helping out around the house ...
It's human nature to react angrily when you know you're wrong but won't admit it.
Wait until he parks and key the hell out of his car... The only possible response to an idiot of that level.
He probably got pissed because you were keeping him from seeing the only tits, ass & ***** he sees on a regular basis. Sounds like he reacted much like a deer during the rut. I'd be in a bad too if I only got to view eye candy or only got laid once in a great while. :D

Could the Mounties help you? Keying can be seen and heard. Instead kick a glass bottle under a tire. It would be tough on the hard working nudes inside (See, I am not assuming what sex they are :D ) but a formal complaint about the traffic going to and from the place is justified.

are you sure you didn't issue the correct series of hand waves and ear waggles to let the driver know you were in control of the lane? ;) maybe you weren't communicating via subtle body language and mind messages your intent in the lane..... mr helmet head says as much in A&S. Heck, it's all your NOTIONS about the driver, bikepacker, don't you realize? its your Notions!

+1 for the use of asshat

These words are so true, I love people with common sence. Hell we have forum members that are the same way.

Bikepacker, I think I saw a relative of your strip club fan yesterday, in Cambridge MA. I was headed down a one-way street, and came to an intersection. There seemed to be some kind of "altercation" (for lack of a better word) going on between the driver of a rusty pickup, and the driver of a Honda Civic, on the cross street. The Honda (young female driver) was making a right turn, and the pickup (male driver) was extremely impatient, screaming, yelling, using the F word, and the C word with great gusto. The young woman was yelling back, in a voice that sounded like finger nails on a blackboard. She made some comment about his "manhood". This, apparently, is the ultimate insult/dare to this particular species.
She wouldn't move, and he just got angrier. Finally, she made her right turn, and he followed, horn blaring. Not sure what happened after that. I decided to go in another direction.
Yep, this is one civilized culture.

OK, first of all, he's driving to a strip club. I really don't think his demeanor is going to be respectful in the first place. Not saying he deserved to be admonished, but you shouldn't be surprised by his reaction.

So "tits" and "ass" are OK with BikeForums, but the filter has a problem with a synonym for cat. Interesting choices.
That reminds me...driving in this morning, I was listening to Elliott in the Morning (DC-101), and he said "tits," and it didn't get bleeped. Didn't that used to be one of the seven dirty words you couldn't say on the air?

So what are you doing riding around the red light district anyway...huh? Inquiring minds want to know.

Yeah, don't even say anything. Most people are not receptive to any correction from others on the road. It has to happen in casual conversation at parties or office gatherings. Your mere presence on the road speaks volumes more than any words you could say after a confrontation. Unfortunately, most people do not have "ears to hear" the truth.

. . . did he pronounce it "teets" like the good ol boys? maybe less offensive connoting dairy cow milking?

You could be creative and key on his door 'I go to nudie bars and go home after to beat-o*f cuz I'm pathetic' or draw a bicycle on his door so he knws who expressed their displeasure with him.

As tempting as it is, confronting A-hiles is the wrong thing to do. The prospect of some small satisfaction pales against the risk taken. People get serously hurt by these jerks. Be careful out there.

Nope, it was a straight-up "tits".

Well, even George Carlin said it didn't belong on the list and that it sounds more like a snack!:D
