Anybody ever done this one? I have a close friend that lives in the area, sounds like a sweet ride. I've been looking for a good place to spend about a week this summer, how would that one be?

I've rode this trail many times, and I would have to say it's one of Tahoe's best. Nice climb, and equally nice , smooth, intermediate downhill. There's an abundance of trials in the tahoe area. My parents own a cabin in the South Shore of the lake, which is where everything is located fortunately. Heres a link for info on the flume.... http://www.theflumetrail.com/ridingmap/ If your staying a week, theres a few other places I'd recomend. Mr. Toads Wild Ride is Tahoes premier downhill trail. If you love climbing, this trail is for you. I think it's around 5miles of climbing gaining about 3-5,000ft and then downhill. Everyone seems to rave about this trails downhill, but I thought it was pretty lame. Definitely not worth the 3hrs of walking the bike up the trail. We also have a few ski resorts open to downhillers in general up here. Kirkwood is a pretty good for a $16 dollar all day lift pass. Terrain is good, but not very challenging. No drops, just really sandy dirt. Not nearly as good as it is during the winter months...http://www.kirkwood.com/mountainbiking.shtml
And the other place I'd recomend is Northstar-at-Tahoe. This place has it all, pro downhill course with timing gates, dual slalom course, dirt jump park, biking camps, and xc. I regularly hang out there, so give that place a try too. I sound like a freakin travel agent here, but pick up a tahoe area trail map and I'm sure your friend knows where to go. Good luck, and enjoy your vacation if you choose to go. -Matt
