I have a Hope Enduro Pro (4 piston) front brake with an 8" rotor on my DiamondBack XSL Pro bike. Yes, this is my XC bike, but I love going overkill on braking power! Anyway, the thing squeals and squeeks like a raped pig. Here's what I have done to try to quiet it down:
* sanded stock pads
* replaced stock pads with EBC gold pads (couldn't get green at the time)
* worked pistons bank and forth (pumped brake and pushed pistons back in with a 10mm wrench trying to get them to push evenly - did help a little)
* sanded EBC pads
* sanded back of EBC pads to help them contact piston better
* filed paint off the caliper mounting tabs on my 02 Z1 FR fork
* cleaned rotor with rubbing alcohol
* lightly sanded rotor with steel wool
All of those attempts usually helped remove the noise for a few miles, but it was back squealing as loud as always by the 2nd ride after any attempt to quiet it down. I have emailed Hope with everything I've done, and they couldn't suggest to do anything else. What else can I try? I'm going crazy here...
