How big have you gone?

I average about 5-7 foot drops...


I've hit ONE 10 footer.... and I messed up my ankle BAD from it. so.. I'm recovering from that to go find stuff with trannies. No more (or very few anyway) drops to flat anymore...

This guy says he would drop off my garage roof which is over a 10 foot drop:

I'm in it For Single Track and the speed, I don't like the feeling of dropping. If it was most air off of a jump, I'd be between 10 and 15 feet.

I drop 30-40 feet.

see, my mountain bike is a rigid huffy, since I'm saving money for a road bike, so the biggest i've gone is about 4 feet

Hell, I just did a no-hander 35' drop over a 45' gap this morning.
I even had the video camera rolling but the lens cover was left on.:D

In actuality I have yet to go bigger then 7' to flat. I do not have the huevos to do huge drops. I am still learning the technique. I only do drops so I am prepared for them if there are any on the race course.

Most of my stuff is drop to flat, and I ride a hard tail, or a short travel XC bike... so I'd say the biggest was maybe 6-7 feet? I have the flat spotted rims to show for it, too :o



I love to do drops to flat. Sometimes it ends in pain, but enh... all part of the game.

Reminds me of the time I dropped the Grand Canyon. I'd post the video, but my helmet cam fell off when I reached terminal velocity.

Okay...I ride XC and rarely drop over 2 feet. That doesn't sound nearly as exciting though :( :p

I can handle about 1 foot.

How does everyone measure their 'drops'? The reason I ask is I saw a video a while ago and they were talking about a '10 foot drop' which was off a platform about head height. I dont think the guy standing next to it was 10 foot tall :rolleyes: so I assumed they were measuring from takeoff to landing.

How does everyone measure their 'drops'?

If it is a drop to flat then it would be the actual hight from the ground to the lip of the drop. If the landing is on a decline then you would measure to the point of landing.

There are drops that we ride that are only 3' but by the time you actually land you have droped 7' because we are going down a steep hill so it increases the distance you free fall.

I do that on a ht while smoking a doobie in mid air ;)...

Seriously 5 ft is my limit on ht right now. My technique blows so I am going to be working on it :)
