I'm posting this here, since I know more members in FOO than any other thread.

Well... it finally happened. A lady driving her Chevy Tahoe cut me off/hit me and bounced me off of a parked car tonight after work. I stayed up and am unhurt other than a mild abrasion on my leg. And yes she had a cell phone in her hand when she said "Oopps, sorry about that." I was fine, and kept riding, but man was I pissed. Another foot and I would have been a pancake! She basically cut back to the right across two lanes (into the lane I was in) and tried to pull into a parking space at the very last second, cutting me off and squeezing me between her SUV and a parked car. I bounced of the SUV, then the parked car and stayed upright while yelling "Jesus Christ!!" and that made her stop or she would have kept going and squashed me. I am glad to be unhurt, and honestly I was just too stunned at the careless way she was driving to confront her. Someone in a car right behind me yelled at her telling her to watch where she was driving, so I clipped back in and finished my ride. It was un-nerving though.

That's so stupid. You should've called the cops and filed a report then went after her insurance company.
You know what you taught her? That she just got away with talking on a cell phone while driving and almost killing someone.
Honestly. I hope a lot of people see this and realize that this is not the right thing to do in an accident.

Although you are likely right...I was unhurt. No blood, no damage to my bike. I know how the local police are where I live...they would have done nothing in all likelyhood. And I really wanted to get the rest of my ride in. If I had damged my bike or myself or even gone down...I would have stayed and raised holy hell! Trust me.

Thanks. I still can't believe I stayed upright on the bike! Knowing my luck if I had fallen, I would have been run over by oncoming traffic.:o

Well, I'm glad that you are okay. Cell phones....my gosh, why can't people think? Are you sure that you are okay? A few weeks ago, the adrenaline kept me going as well. Until later that night I was hurting. But I posted here on BF too! I just thank God that you are here to tell us. Take care of yourself. Eat some Pistachio ice cream. That always works for me. ;)

+1 to what slvoid said. She hit you, she caused an accident. I'd have called the cops, gathered witnesses, got her plate #, etc. and not let her get away w/ hitting people and driving irresponsibly and dangerously. Glad you're ok.

Even if the police don't do anything, they still file something. That means that the next time she does it, there's a history and THEN somethin may happen. Don't let people get away with this.

Yep. thats the only real reason why one should not let that go. Because if it happens to some other cyclist. That prior history might be what they need to get "fair" settlement sine so manyh juries/courts/police treat cyclists as 3rd class citizens.
