Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Grips to polished steel adhesion?

Oury grips + Nashbar moustache bar. I tried just shoving 'em on, they slide right off. Hairspray (with 24 hours to dry), same thing. Soap, a little better but still slid off after a day. Just tried super glue, and they stuck, until I put any sort of force on them and then they slide around again.

Two sided tape? I've got some gorilla glue, but I think it'll turn out the same as the super glue.

Rough up the bar surface a little and try some rubber cement. It will give a bit before it lets go, unlike superglue that just cracks.

Did you clean the bars and grips with alcohol first?
The grips probably still have mold release on them from the manufacturer.
Old school hairspray usually works great (aquanet).
3M makes a great contact cement in a spray can.
Craft stores or X-mart should have it.

Either way wait a couple days before trying to torque them off.
Give the adhesive time to set.

You could also put a ziptie of the same color at the open end of the grips. Cinch it down tight, then apply some flame to the buckle part so it melts some and you can mash it flat. With the right color ziptie, you'll hardly be able to notice it, and it holds the grips in place pretty well.

I used Windex when I put my oury grips on. I also had to poke holes in the end of the grips with a safety pin so that the Windex could evaporate a little quicker. It took about 5 days for them to completely dry to the point where I didn't feel them move. Now they are fine and I have not had any problems with them. Just be patient, they will eventually set. You can also always use spraypaint, but your bar will be all effed up if you want to remove them.

yes, oury grips take patience.

i've had more success w/ rubbing alcohol than with windex. then again, i also had a windexed one set/dry almost immediately, and another one take a few days. whodathunkit?

for ourys I don't use anything.
If you push them on somewhat swiftly the air inside them will compress and they slide right on.
Try it a couple of times until you get the feel for it. Once they are on with this method they wont slide around and you can ride right away. To get them off just roll them back. I have had my ourys on 3 different bars so far and never had a problem.

word to using nothing. it might take a little time to get them on though
