Commuting - newbie

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi all - I am a NEWBIE to this forum. I started riding 1-1/2 yrs ago - I am 5'4" - I was over 300 - I am down to 230 and still going. My diabetes is now under control without meds - SO MY ADVICE TO ALL YOU CLYDESDALES OUT THERE - KEEP GOING!:D
I wish I had known of this forum 18 mos ago. I could have used the encouragement...
Congrats on the weight loss.
Is it from commuting or weekend riding or both?
Mostly commuting - I take a ride every morning - I don't go to work until 10AM - so after the kids are in school - I am on the BIKE!
I am looking for a road bike now. Been on the Specialized MTN bike from the beginning - ready for the next step.

Good for you B1ker. Pick yourself a nice bike, seems like you've earned it by now.
Congrats! We are always glad to see a fellow commuter, weight loser on here.

Right on b1ker! I'm at 320, down from about 350 (but up from 305, dang it....) and am increasing my mileage next week to get more time on the bike. I admire your weight loss. What did you do, besides cycling?
Actually - I started keeping a Food Diary - I wrote down EVERYTHING I ate. Then then next day I looked at what I ate the previous day. It is a good way to eat less...at least I did.
I still keep it - and check it the next day. It is a motivator because you look at say - WOW, I did bad last Thursday, etc...
Still working at it...
