Triathlon - Anyone else going to the Honu Half IM?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm leaving for Kona on Tuesday. Really looking forward to it...even though my training was about 1/3 what it should have been. Oh well, I'm just planning to have fun.

A half IM in Hawaii? That's crazy! The heat and humidity in that tropical hell-hole would make me wither like a fragile rose petal.:)

I don't have any plans to do it this year, but maybe in '07 if I can manage to balance work, family-life and training.

Good luck, CJ - have a great race.

Best of luck, CJ.

I've talked the wife into a trip to Kona in 2007 for our 15th wedding anniversary in October, so I'll watch the race while we are there.

Thanks! Got to Kona yesterday and did some recon on the swim and bike...What the $#&* have I gotten myself into??? :) The road to Hawi is a lot more rolling than I remember from previous visits.

Just got back from a 30 min jog and told Rose that I now have two goals for Saturday.

#1 - Finish
#2 - Don't end up on a Gatorade commercial with the words, "Don't let this happen to you!"

Have a good week.

I definitely support you in those goals. DNF is just not an option, so hang in there!

Hate that coastal road from Kailua to Hawi. Boooring. Skip it and ride your bike on the scenic road from Hawi to Waimea over the mountain - you'll be much happier. ;)
