What's funny is maybe now about a year ago a thread was made with a bike like that. He claimed it was inefficient in comparison to single drive. The noobs are catching on later-- and they're only going to find that it sucks. :D

Dual Drive is ********. 100+years of the saftey bicycle has proven that one chain is enough.

you know what would be deck? Triple drive! A singlespeed with triple cranks, and 3 cogs on the rear cassette. All at the same ratio. It would have all the weight of a geared system with none of the mechanical advantage. Perfect chainline would be offset by 3 times the mechanical friction, and it would look SO BADASS!

LH threading on the left side of the hub, there are a few BMX hubs that have both left and right side threading for LH freewheels. I'm guessing they took one of these and respaced it.

For those who are hating on the design, there is a photo somewhere on the internet of a bike with 3 chains, all on the right side. Three chainrings, all the same size, and three cogs on a normal MTB hub with spacers.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, that was a bike a guy raced in the Iditabike up in Alaska. Something to do with frozen slush mucking up a single chain, so 3 chains are better.

Outside the arctic circle, though, it seems a bit overkill.

It would be cool to get a regular mountain triple - say, 24, 34, 44 teeth on the chainrings - and then have three different cogs on the back that make the gear ratios the same. Did I say cool? I meant dorky.

It's not exactly 2-wheel drive, but the way I've heard it described is if your rear wheel starts to spin, the front wheel will take the force and pull you forward. It's apparently incredible. Maintenance is supposed to be pretty easy too, but I wouldn't bet on it. And I think there's a weight penalty as well...
