Introductions - Hello from Florida!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I've been reading this forum since January, but I wanted to wait and see if biking was for me before I posted. Last week I surpassed 1,250 miles! It was difficult at first, but someone here mentioned that you need to ride for thirty days before you decide whether biking is for you. Four months after getting my bike I am riding 25 miles each day and enjoying it!
I want to thank Mikabike, Pwdbytrd and King Termite for their inspiring posts, because I too am a Clyde but I'm losing about two pounds per week!
If any other Clyde is reading this post and wondering what to buy, I have a Trek 7200. Everything on it is stock. I am over 300 lbs and I've never popped a tire, spoke, crank, seatpost, etc.
Thanks everyone for your information and tips!

Any chance you are around the Pensacola area?

<chuckle> I wonder about that myself sometimes. You said you were from the Suncoast area. Does that mean the West Central region of Florida? 'Cause that's where I'm at. Valrico. Just outside of Brandon, but before Plant City.
Pepper (Wife) and I ride at Flatwoods and sometime the Suncoast Trail. We also have ridden parts of the Withlacooche (I wanna go back, but it's a drive, and I'm hesitant to spend the gas money to drive to Inverness). We did get a chance to ride the Van Fleet Trail in Polk County up to Sumter county. That took us three days, spread out over a couple of weeks.
We are the biking equivilant of duffers. She rides a comfort bike (Mongoose Sahara), and I ride a mtb (GT Avalance 3.0) with street tires. No bike shorts or such, but we do wear helmets.
I'm in Sarasota. I mostly ride the keys; Siesta and Longboat. About 20-25 miles a day.

Cool, welcome to Club Clyde :)
I bet you can figure out where I'm from :p
Cool, welcome to Club Clyde :)
Yeah, where is the Clyde section?
I rode Longboat Key today. The ride south was terrific, the ride north was a struggle. From my house to Mote marine and back is 40 miles. I usually do this or something similar on Mondays.
Yeah, where is the Clyde section?
There's a clyde thread here:

yeah we clydes fall under the "road" subforum.
Pretty uch the admins and mods don't like the idea of a million + dog subforums, so the "sub-subgroups" usually don't get their own forums, unless there is lots of related material to go around.
Pretty much for Clydes it's just a matter of "buy for strength and durability...ultralight parts are for the twigs." :p
BikerBrent you don't have to drive to Inverness. The trailhead at US301 is open 6 miles north of Dade City.
Just checking in from Gainesville. We've got some great riding in the surrounding countryside plus a few trails nearby (GHT, Nature Coast).
Cheers.
Ken
ps - I'd be doing intervals today, but Alberto had other plans for me, so I wound up spending the last two hours reading these forums.
