ok, after doing a search...has anyone converted a centuar 10 speed shifter to 9 speed?

after checking branfordbike.com...here is the link:

part number 6 is the 9 speed cog, I'm sure this part is required to convert to 9 speed. I not sure if part number 10 is required. there is one disk for 8/9 speed and a separate disk for 10 speed for part number 10.

someone told a friend that this disk is not required, but it looks like if someone was upgrading from 8 speed to 9 speed it looks like this part is not required. but if I am going from 10 speed to 9 speed, it looks to me that this part is required.

so does anyone have some inside info on this?

btw, I know someone will ask, I don't like 10 speed for many reasons. first I have 2 other bikes that are 9 speed and want interchangability. second, I don't like the fact that 10 speed parts wear out so fast. third, the parts are expensive.

I haven't done this, but I'm holding onto 9s for as long as I can too. Same reasons. Tell me if this conversion works for you.

not tried it, but centaur 9 speed levers are still available in the uk. i was thinking of going centaur 9 rather than 10, and i think you have just confirmed it! thanks! dave

Could you sell your 10 and buy a 9? Would it be worth it?

I imagine when the 10 stuff is really proliferating you'd be able to pick it up cheaper than it is now.

the great thing about campy is that it is possible to change and rebuild...hard to find 9 speed centuar.

You have to use both.
