I usually wear old cotton gramicci pants. Mine kind of are like these (http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?storeId=8000&catalogId=40000008000&productId=48002577&parent_category_rn=4501396&vcat=REI_SEARCH) but they don't look as dumb. And I got them in like 1995. They have a gusseted crotch so there aren't any real seams in the wrong areas. If it's really cold or rainy I have these other pants that are sort of like stretch-shell pants but with a tighter fit. They are kind of like these. Sorry, my computer or the board or something was all screwy last night. My question was what kinda pants do people recommend for cold rainy conditions. I had some Nike running pants that got shredded yesterday in the front gears because they were too loose fitting, and they weren't exactly waterproof.

These are great for damp cold mornings. They have a tapered leg with zipper too. http://cgi.ebay.com/US-GI-Military-Army-PT-IPFU-Physical-Fitness-Pants-M-R_W0QQitemZ6632760984QQcategoryZ70987QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I have a couple of pairs of supplex hiking pants from REI or similar. They are actually cut trimmer than cycling pants. They're not waterproof but they're good for chilly and damp weather.

After trying many different pants both my wife and I are very happy with Nashbar Goretex pants. They have velcro tabs at the cuff to keep them from being eaten by your chainring. My wife is a three season commuter and I am an all year nutcase. We have had no problems with these.

One note, when it gets colder than -20c I switch to J&G pants as they are much thicker and don't have the knee vents that the Nashbar ones have.

Burley ultimate commuter rain pants...the absolute best piece of rain gear I've ever owned. In cold rain wear some cycling tights underneath, and in really cold rain or snow wear cycling tights plus regular sweatpants underneath.

Very worth the Money! I carry these with me everywhere! Good all around pants.
Pant legs have a Zipper and a Velcro strap to keep tight around ankles.

I wear performance polypro tights when it's cold out. Polypro remains warm when wet, so I just get wet. I'm one of the never-satisfied-with-rain-gear-because-I-sweat-and-get-wet-anyway crowd so my rain gear is my normal gear + water.

When it's raining alot, I have some heavy lycra tights with a Gore-Tex front, but they're not covered in the back and get very soggy without fenders to direct the spray elsewhere.

Otherwise, I use shants.

Hot bloody gawd yes!

I picked up a pair last fall. They look pretty normal, stretch, take endless abuse, and a full winter of daily commuting and still work fine. Great for travel as well.
