I was just looking round the web for a box or a bag to transport my bike in and i came across the CrateWorks website www.crateworks.com . I just wondering if anybody has used these boxes before. I am looking for a hard case or a box - not a soft case!

Stew

P.S. I am open to any other suggestions. I have had a look at th Sci-Con Hard Case.

I have not used any of these myself, but here are some more options.

I've been using a Crateworks box for the last two years and have been happy with its performance. It is made of corrugated plastic which is sturdy, but somewhat flexible. It has done a good job of protecting my bike on a plane and via FedEx and UPS.

I don't think it's quite as sturdy as the hard ABS cases, but it is lighter (easier to carry around the airport) and cheaper. If you looked at their website you know that every piece is replaceable.

If I had to do it again, I'd buy another Crateworks.

It's 21 lbs. The optional, detachable wheels weigh another two pounds. If you plan on traveling by plane with your box, I definitely recommend the wheels. While the box is easy enough to carry by hand (grab handles on each side), you can't carry anything else (i.e., luggage) at the same time.

Good luck with your decision.
