Mountain Biking - Who's riding this weekend and where?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey, who's going riding and where?

I am, probably on Sunday, maybe Monday (I have off for MLK's B-Day).

I'll most likely hit the trails at Carter Road in Mulberry, FL or Alafia River State Park in Lithia, FL.

Any FL riders want to join me?

Well... how far would I have to drive? I've got no idea where any of those trails are :D

Hopefully my new bike will be finished by then.. one can only hope!

That's all the way down near Clearwater! A bit out of my range for this weekend :(

By the way.. how are those trails anyway? Pretty technical? Have you ever ridden in Ocala at Razorback, Santos, or Hard Rock? Those are all AWESOME places to ride... considered some of Floridas best.

Yep, ridden all those plus some others.

There is a trail in Gainesville over at the Gatorback MX park (west on University) that has an awesome trail. Problem is (as far as I know) it's only open to mtn bikes the weekend of the race that's run only twice a year. So, if you get the chance, go to www.goneriding.com and find out when the race weekend is, it's definately worth riding!

Would love to head up to Santos or Hard Rock, but like you said, it's pretty far. I'm down in Sarasota, so Ocala is about 2.5 hours away, unless I drive 90 m.p.h.

Both Alafia and Carter Road both have some pretty technical sections, not unlike those at Santos over on the "other side". There is a "Red" loop at Alafia, that'll put a hurtin on you! Carter has some ridges that are super tough, but overall is an easier ride. Both are worth checking out if you ever make it down this way!

There is another cool ride near Carter Road called the "TOE", but you have to be a member of RidgeRiders to ride there. I haven't broken down and spent the $25 to join. I'm cheap I guess! It's been a couple of years since I've been there, but I understand they've built some bridges and stunts (NS Stuff!).

Hey, you doing the 12 Hour Race at Razorback in Feb? I am, you should get a team together, and come down. I did this 2 years ago and had a killer time!

One of my buddies would probably race it... he loves that kinda stuff. Not too much of a racer myself, but I'm pretty open to new ideas.. we might just do that.

If you are ever in my neck of the woods you can check out our DH club

DescendersOnDirt (http://www.clubmtb.com)

You will have to join to see the ride schedular but it is free and if you do not want to get our emails you can very easily cancel the member ship. We have some photos and our own forum.

We will be checking out some new dh trails this weekend. If any of you are in SoCal. check it out.
