I've been riding a mountain bike around for several years. I love to go FAST! Yesterday I talked my friend into letting me ride his Klein Aeolus tri bike. Let's just say it felt like I had a rocket attached to the seatpost. I went on a 16 mile ride down the country roads in the 90+ degree heat and I was moving at an average speed of 22 M.P.H.!!! The minute I got off of that bike I said, "I have to get me one of those!" I had previously rode an old steel road bike, and I must say that I like the geometry and aerobars of the tri bike a lot more than the road bike. The other main reason I'm thinking about going triatholon specific is that the lack of STI shifters allows manufacters to put better components on the bike for the same price. Is there anything wrong with buying a tri bike if I'm not doing tri's (maybe I will in the future)? I'm thinking about buying a felt S32 (limited budget!) Has anyone ever rode one of these? (I'll post this in the tri forum too.) Can anyone recommend pedals, shoes, a helmet and computer that won't break the bank!? I'm sorry if these questions have been answerd before, but the search function won't work. (It says "page cannot be displayed")

road bike shoes are great for pedaling long distances but i have found that mtn bike shoes/pedals are better for the reason is that you can walk normal in them which in tri's in the transistion can be tricky, uless you run bare foot and then slide in on the fly (havent mastered this yet) mtn shoes and pedals( style spd) are less expensive in general than road shoes/pedals
