Well it seems that lots of the 'regulars' are quiet today. They're probably sleeping in. Not me! I woke up at 5am so that I could start my new 13.5 (up from 5.5) mile commute. It was great! I had to be at work at 7:30am and will be here until 5:30pm when the office closes. I work at an Internet company. And, the Internet stops for no one, so somebody has to hold down the fort. Its been me for the last 7 years LOL.
So, this thread is for those who have to work this holiday. What type of work do you do that you have to work today? Did you ride your bike as usual or did you drive today?
Take care,

Aviation is 24/7. It was nice riding in on empty roads this morning though.

it's not a holiday in Canada, so I'm at work as well. But it's dead as I work on the Bank of America helpdesk.

my buddy and i did our normal 25-miler this morning... lots of folks out and about... then the wife unit and i went to the family plots to sweep off the stones and replace flowers (along with planting a few flags for forgotten vets in adjacent plots)...
radio station never closes! I'm getting ready to bike in right now! traffic should be slow!
Yeah - I am working too - we process transactions for Canada(even though we are an American Company) - fortunately though - I am the ONLY person here - SO I rode my bike in, turned on the radio full and I am just thinking about the ride home @ 7PM.

Normal working day today, but we had last Mon off to celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday (about 186).
I had a fabulous 102 km ride yesterday and thundershowers forecast for today, so I am just in recovery mode. Getting things ready to support the next Shuttle trip to the space Station

But I'm done already. I worked from 4:45 PM yesterday until 3 AM this morning. I'm a trader and had to cover for a guy who went to the Indy 500. It was 87 degrees at 3 AM in Chicago. Wheew!! Hot hot.
I love riding through the streets of Chicago in the middle of the night. It's like a new kinda freedom. When it's not so fun is when there was the hailstorm about three weeks back. At first it was kinda funny, then it was end of the world kind of hailing! OUCH!!! A couple of us dove into a bus shelter and laughed at the weirdness of it all.

5 day weekend.
Does painting a bathroom count as work? :p
I would rather be at work than playing with oil based primer, latex paint, and a topcoat for sponging. ugh!

Hope you're all getting time and a half or double time. :)
my company makes it worthwhile - I get 8 hrs of Holiday pay - time and 1 half for what I work and 8 hrs of paid time off.
So although it would nice to be at the BBQ - this doesn't hurt too much...
yup. holiday pay does ease the pain. :) plus it is great because you have the place almost to yourself. all managers and people that Don't have to be here, aren't.

The cable company never sleeps, and it never stops raising its rates. I did my usual 12 mile commute with almost clear roads both ways.

I had to take care of my brothers' cats while he is on vacation. Once a week I have to go up to his new home on a mountaintop with a 100 mile view, soak in his hot tub with the same view, enjoy a bottle of late harvest Trouseau Gris with the wife and . . . Oh yes clean the litter box and do the 7.4 miles 1,500 foot drop back down the mountain on my bike.

It's very vague with whom you are sharing the Trouseau Gris. Did your brothers wife go on vacation also? ;)
