Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I finished my second century yesterday, Leinenkugel's Chippewa Valley Century Ride, in CHippewa Falls, WI. I did it last year for the first time, but then the conditions were ideal. This year was a different story, the temperature was 95 by the end of the ride. But wait, there's more! The wnd was blowing a strong 20 gusting to over 30 mp from the south by the end, and the last 10+ miles were mostly stright inot the teeth of it! I ran out of water before each of the last two rest stops, and had to deal with cramping. Buy I made it! Knowing there were brats and beer at the finish is good motivation.

Congrats, feels great, doesn't it? Incidentally, my goal is a TRIPLE century by the end of summer! 300 miles, 1 day!

300 miles in one day!?!? How long will that take and what do you average?

Fantastic! Bad riding weather makes for good bragging.
I did 400K under similar conditions this weekend. Like you, the last 11 miles were straight into the wind. The biggest difference, aside from mileage, was no beer and brats waiting for me at the 5:30 AM when I rolled to the finish. Speaking of which, I think I need a recovery beer...
