i'm in japan, and i'm broke. so, i'm not gonna take my bike to an expensive shop, and i'm not about to buy tools/find spacers, etc.
both my front and rear deralieurs are a bit FUBAR, so i'm thinking of just taking them off and shortening my chain. i figure, since i can't really shift, everything is flat and i'm pretty comfortable around 46-17, i may as well lose the weight. of course, i'd still have the unused six-gear cassette on the back and three chain rings to weigh me down.
will this work?
