The link provides pretty much the synopsis of the approach this book takes. But here's the deal. I have significantly decreased my intake of saturated fat over the last three years. The annual cardiolite test, and the four blood panels I get each year as well as my continuously improving performace in cycling events has shown my condition continues to improve. With that in mind, why should I consider changing anything in light of these results?
BTW, when I began eating a low fat regimen, my LDL level dramatically dropped eliminating the need for a statin medication.
it has been shown that a low carb diet improves the ratio of large to small LDL. A low fat diet does the opposite. I think I read somewhere that this is because the body prefers to use dietary fats to create large LDL, but when that is in short supply (as it would be on low fat diet), the body does the best it can, which is to create the dangerous small LDL.
so, next time you get your blood work done, ask them for to analyze your LDL particle sizes. You might be in for a suprise.

The test you're referring to, subfraction analysis, was part of my blood panel early on for that specific reason. As it turns out, both my HDL and LDL particle size are relatively large probably due to regular exercise and B3 vitamins I take, so its not a concern.

of course, you wouldnt need B3 supplements if you'd get over that irrational fear of saturated fat and eat more grass-fed beef and eggs!

When I reduced the saturated fat the LDL went down. I do eat some sat fat as chicken and fish.

when I reduced my carbs my LDL stayed about the same, and my overall panel was vastly improved - HDL wAY up, triglycerides WAY down, blood glucose excellent. I eat loads of saturated fat as eggs, beef, chicken, pork, butter, bacon, sausage, fois gras, salmon, swordfish, tuna, tilapia, shrimp, mussels, oysters, cashews, and on and on....
