My Specialized Allez is almost brand new and i'm already getting the urge to upgrade. I was thinking of going with an Ultegra caliper in the front. Are there any things I should know before ordering the Ultegra brake setup? Is it strictly a bolt on, plug and play deal?

So the Ultegra brakes will bolt right up in place of the el-cheapos that come on there stock?

Yes they will bolt right in place but they aren't strictly plug-and-play. You will have to ajust the pads to line up with your rims and adjust the cable tension for the proper clearance.

Thanks guys! I'm really surprised that you can get Ultegra brakes for so cheap. A sponsor on here has them for $59.95. Not bad!

That's because brakes are brakes. There's nothing inherently special about one dual pivot compared to the next.

In fact those Tektro dual pivots are lighter than ultegras.

I don't know about that. The Ultegras I have now feel noticably better than the house brand brakes I replaced on my Cannondale. They feel more responsive and stop much better.
